About Us

WHO IS JOYCE FINLEY

Joyce Finley is the mother of one of the founders who overcame a lot of at-risk issues. She set the example for the founders on how to overcome the statistical juvenile justice system. Through incarceration, underage pregnancy, discrimination, addiction, rejection from her peers, abuse, undiagnosed mental health, and trauma (to just name a few), she overcame all obstacles and excelled above and beyond a lot of expectations and statistics. She wanted to leave a legacy to create a program in which she could help other youth overcome the same obstacles she faced in her lifetime. Sadly, she passed away before she could see this vision come to life. Through her life sacrifices, the founders have created the Joyce Finley Foundation Inc (JFF).

The JFF founders have created a program that not only has strong ties and supports from the community, religious organizations, family, and friends, but also that has been proven successfully in their own personal lives as well. The JFF program offers diverse and intensive services through transitional and residential housing to at-risk youths. The strong connections, personal lived experiences of the founders and staff, and through this program are what set JFF apart from other organizations.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Joyce Finely Foundation, Inc. (JFF) is to advance the pathways of marginalized youth using love and kindness, thus serving as a springboard for their futures. JFF will achieve this mission by creating safe spaces for the youth to envision their future while receiving mental health support, social and economic restoration, and community partner resources. Through offering the above-mentioned services the organization will help create a peaceful, serene, and productive environment for at-risk youth to continue their education, receive counseling, case management, and other programing thus fulfilling the mission, vision, and purpose.

HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS

JFF offers transitional and residential services for at-risk youth in the greater Portland Metro Area, inclusive of Vancouver, Washington. Our Transitional Program functions as a place to provide residents the skills necessary to transition back into the community, while our residential home functions as a place with social-work supervision for people who need more than just transitional living services and supports.
